Introduction to San Miguel

San Miguel is one of the most visited places around Guanajuato, due to being one of the oldest and prettiest cities in the state of Guanajuato.

There’s a lot of tourism in this city, because of all the old buildings and churches, maybe due to the city’s history too.

Some of the most visited places include:

El Jardín Principal

This Park, is located in the center of the city, in front of it there’s the Municipal Presidency, and behind, there’s Allende’s House museum.

Museo de la casa de Allende

This building, dates from the XVIII century. It’s a perfect example of the houses that the Spanish nobles used to live in. At some point it was of course Ignacio Allende’s house. After the Independence, it was turned into a museum to commemorate the revolutionary war.

Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel

This church, initially the most important church of the city, was crumbling to pieces. Around 1880 Zeferino Gutierrez was commissioned to restore it, and the final results were awesome, making it one of the most visited churches and the most photographed one.

I am from Turkey but i live in Goodland Kansas for a year. In my city (Istanbul) we have lots of old buildings and old architecture. But here in Goodland we don’t have old buildings and old history. When i came here it was the first thing seemed so new to me.I can see that in Guanajuato you have an old history and old buildings which make me feel familiar. I really like this architecture. Especially Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel .
Thank you for sharing this pictures and history.
